How to Change Business Hours on a Facebook Page

Switch into your Facebook Page, open About → Details → Hours, and choose Open on selected hours to enter the schedule. That is the current desktop route in Meta’s official help. For a one-off change, also publish a dated customer notice and plan any necessary restoration of the regular hours.

Change the hours manually

  1. Sign in to Facebook with an account that can manage the Page. Open your profile photo, choose See all profiles, and switch into the correct Page.
  2. Open the Page’s profile photo and select its name to reach the Page.
  3. Choose About, then Details, then Hours.
  4. Select Open on selected hours and enter the opening periods. Use Add hours if you need another period, such as after a lunch break.
  5. Finish the edit using the controls your Page shows. Reopen its public information and confirm the displayed schedule.

Meta says the location determines the timezone. Check the address and map pin before interpreting an unexpected open/closed label. If Hours is absent, consult Meta’s category guidance linked from its hours article; don’t change to an inaccurate category just to reveal a field. If you cannot switch into or edit the Page, ask its manager to check your Page access.

A temporary change is not a new normal week

The official article reviewed here describes selected weekly hours; it does not establish a Google-style dated special-hours control. Don’t assume a “holiday hours” picker from an old tutorial exists on your Page.

For an early close, use a clear notice such as: “Thursday 1 October: open 10:30–15:00. Friday 2 October: normal hours, 10:30–19:00.” Replace these example dates and times with your own. Publish it where your customers look, and make it prominent using the Page’s available controls.

If you also change the weekly field to reflect that exception, record the original schedule and set a reminder to restore it. A post alone can leave a conflicting hours box beside it; a weekly-field edit can accidentally describe next week’s hours too. Check both.

Check the other destinations

Facebook editing does not prove that Google, Apple Maps, Bing or your site changed. Use the website notice guide to place the same dated message beside the hours customers read. Check booking or ordering cutoffs separately.

After the exception, remove or revise the notice and confirm the regular schedule. A successful edit is different from a public result; do not promise instant visibility across every Facebook view or cached result.

Updating the same hours elsewhere too?

You can edit Facebook manually for free. HoursBeacon is being built for the repeated part: set one temporary change and handle the customer-facing destinations from one workflow. Google comes first; a website component is planned, and Facebook support depends on technical access. No live sync is available.

Try the HoursBeacon preview — no real hours are updated.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I see the Hours section?

Meta says your Page category may need changing. Use a category that truthfully describes the business, check the address and map pin, and ask the person who manages the Page to confirm your editing access.

Does a Facebook post change the hours field?

A dated post communicates the exception. Check the structured hours separately; a post is not evidence that the hours field changed.
