Closing Early Today? What to Update Online
Start with a precise customer message: “Today, [date], we close at 15:00. Tomorrow we expect to open as usual at 10:30.” Use the actual date and confirmed next opening. A notice that only says “closing early” leaves the customer to guess.
A useful order when you’re in a hurry
- Confirm today’s closing time with the person running the location. Resolve conflicting internal information before publishing it.
- On Google, use a date-specific special-hours entry for an early close. Keep normal weekly hours for your normal week. The manual Google guide and official instructions explain the edit.
- Put the same dated notice on your website. Think about the landing page a customer reaches from a map result, not just the homepage you usually visit.
- If customers rely on your Facebook or Instagram page, publish a dated notice through the controls available to you. This guide does not assume that a post changes that platform’s structured hours.
- Check your booking or ordering cutoff separately if you use one. Stop accepting orders you cannot fulfill.
Check the customer view
Open the published destinations and read the message as someone planning a visit. Can they find the date and the last time they can arrive? Does a conflicting regular-hours box sit beside the notice? A successful save is not a reason to stop checking.
Do not promise that every map, cached result or directory will change instantly. Keep the directly controlled website notice clear while checking the other destinations. If tomorrow is also exceptional, say that explicitly rather than implying the normal schedule resumes.
Avoid creating tomorrow’s confusion
For a website or social notice, include the date so it cannot silently become an evergreen “today.” Set yourself a reminder to remove or revise it once it is stale. Date-specific exceptions and free-text notices have different expiry behavior; don’t assume a banner removes itself.
This is the workflow HoursBeacon is investigating: a quick temporary change with an honest status for each destination. The preview demonstrates the idea, and the proposed annual price is below. You can complete this entire checklist manually without signing up.

Closing early in more than one place?
You can finish this checklist manually. HoursBeacon is testing a temporary-hours workflow for less repeated editing, starting with Google and a planned website component. Coming Soon means this preview submits no real changes.

Frequently asked questions
Should I rewrite my weekly schedule for today?
For a one-off Google change, use special hours for the date. If a different destination requires a weekly edit, keep the original schedule and arrange its restoration.
What if I do not know when we will reopen?
Say the next opening is unconfirmed and set a review time for the notice. Do not imply normal hours resume until that is confirmed.
